GAVRT/SETI
Welcome to the GAVRT Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) project!

We are looking for intelligent life in outer space, and we need your help. Our plan is to use the GAVRT radio telescope to scan across most of the stars in the Milky Way, looking to see if anyone is sending a radio signal in our direction. With help from students all over the country, we will search through this enormous amount of data, looking for signs that someone is trying to talk to us. With your teacher and fellow students, you can...
  1. Choose a piece of the sky to search.
  2. Run the radio telescope to collect new data.
  3. Use our custom-made waterfall plot to reject interference signals and identify candidate signals, potentially of extraterrestrial origin.
Our goal is for you to learn about science by doing real science, instead of by reading about someone else's results. Along the way, if we all get very lucky, you just might make the most important discovery of our lifetimes: Intelligent life beyond the Earth!

Thanks for your help, and I look forward to talking with you about the data you collect and analyze.
